Dr. Michael Hofrath
Holistic Somatic Depth-oriented Practitioner /Shamanic Practices

Philosophy
My intention is to assist clients in healing deep seeded soul wounds, to feel safe in their body again, and to develop healthier belief systems such as, “I am good enough”, “I am worthy”, or “I deserve love and to be loved”. Re-connection with soma (body) is the path to deep soul healing and wholeness.
Psyche and soul hold our truth, and the truth shall set you free. This is the path to meaning and purpose in life, wholeness and actualization of one’s authentic Self.
When we are disconnected from our feeling states, we are disconnected from our intuition, instincts, and our authentic Self. How then can we possibly know who we are, or what we want?
I assist clients in feeling safe in their body again, and to embody the feeling states of self-acceptance, self-forgiveness and self-love. Each of us has an inner healing intelligence. Body and mind are intimately intertwined and know how to heal deep psychic wounds given the right situation, circumstances and environment.
Connection with the “wisdom of the body” is the proverbial gateway that bridges the gap between the (ego-based) conscious and the (soul-based) unconscious. An embodied connection makes space for our inner healer to resolve internal conflicts, thus openning the door to healing transmutation, self-actualization, and ultimately the freedom to live an authentic life.
Adverse behavioral issues, limiting belief patterns, projections, miscommunications, relational challenges and fear based thinking all hold us back from living a fully expressed life.
The primary task of the ego (conscious self) is to protect our identity through a myriad of defense mechanisms. The ego will go to great lengths to accomplish this task, including lying to us through rationalization, justification, projection, denial, repression and disassociation. The body (unconscious self) holds our truth and will NEVER LIE to you!
A somatic ‘bottom-up’ approach bridges the gap between the conscious “ego” and the unconscious “psyche” and facilitates re-connection with one’s authentic “soul” self through the “wisdom of the body.”
Depth approaches and somatic “body-based” practices offer a more holistic, solution-based approach for trauma wounding and psychic imbalance held deep in the Polyvagal nervous system, while shamanic practices address ancestral, prenatal and psycho-spiritual wounding.
More attention is placed on investigating these hidden, unconscious processes for clarity, understanding and to entice them into conscious awareness so they can be addressed and alleviate psychic pain and suffering. Self-awareness of these unconscious patterns allows us to move through them, heal unresolved wounding, memories, adverse behavior or limiting belief patterns for authentic wholeness. To be authentic requires facing the shadow head on.
